Press and hold Fire Warning Indicator TEST button and confirm that FIRE caution light illuminates. Release button afterwards

Set Caution/Warning Lights Switch to TEST, then back to RESET. On the glareshield, Master Caution light will extinguish, but LOW RPM light will remain illuminated

Adjust Altimeter Barometric Pressure Setting to airfield elevation

Check Flight Control response to Cyclic, Collective and Anti-Torque Pedal input

Close doors, check that rotors are cleared and un-tied, and then check that surrounding area is clear for engine start.

ENGINE START-UP

Set Throttle to IDLE-START position

Monitor DC Voltmeter for sufficient battery voltage. Battery starts can be made when voltages less than 24 volts are indicated, provided the voltage is not below 14 volts when cranking through 10% N1 speed

Lower collective

FULLY DOWN

Press and hold the starter switch

Wait until N1 (Gas Turbine Speed) RPM reaches 15 %. Check visually that the main rotor is turning as N1 reaches 15 percent. If the rotor is not turning, abort the start.

At 15 % N1 RPM, throttle up to IDLE-STOP (START) position

Engine lightoff occurs. Monitor EGT for any sign of a hot start

ENGINE START-UP

Wait until N1 RPM reaches 40 %. At 40 % N1 RPM, release start switch

Do not hold the starter switch for more than 1 minute

Wait until N1 RPM reaches 68-72 %. At 70 % N1 RPM, slowly throttle to FULLY OPEN

Set Inverter Switch

MAIN ON

Set Starter Generator Switch

STBY GEN

Wait until engine parameters stabilize, then verify correct engine operation

EXH/EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature): 400 -610 deg C

Engine Oil Temperature: below 100 deg C

Engine Oil Pressure: 80-100 psi

Transmission Oil Temperature: below 110 deg C

Transmission Oil Pressure: 40 -60 psi

Engine RPM: 6600 RPM

LOW RPM indicator light –Extinguished

Disconnect GPU if used

Check for correct AC voltage

(112-118 V)

Check for correct DC voltage

(27-28.5 V)

POST-START / ENGINE RUNUP

Turn on Radar Altimeter on the Overhead Panel

Turn on radar altimeter power switch

Rotate left knob to activate radar altimeter

Click right knob test switch

Rotate left and right knobs to set the LOW and HIGH radar altimeter warnings with the flags

POST-START / ENGINE RUNUP

Set Pitot Heat Switch

As Required

(ON below 0 deg C)

Adjust compass synchronization knob to match the Radio Compass heading with the Magnetic Compass heading

Set LOW RPM Switch

AUDIO/AFT

Prepare Armament & Countermeasure (DISP) Panel

Weapons Arming Switch –ARMED

Flare/Chaff Arming Switch –ARM

Set NAV Radio Mode

PWR

Set VHF Radio Mode

PWR

Set UHF Radio Mode

T/R+G

Set FM Radio Mode

T/R

Set all radio frequencies as required for the mission

On Signal Distribution Panel

Verify that all Receiver switches are ON (FWD)

Set Transmit-Interphone Selector to INT (Intercom)

You are now ready to taxi and takeoff.
